Income

Back in http://a-zliving.com/section/affordability in the Why? section we talked about expenses living in your new home. If you did your homework you should have an idea what sort of expenses you will experience. You may already have the costs covered (for example, with a pension) but, if not, you are going to need some way of paying the bills. That's what this page is about.

Obviously, the best job is the one you already have. If you can, for example, work over the Internet then you know what your income is. You just need to make sure a reliable Internet connection is available in your new home. If you need to find a new job, things can be very different.

Let's say you were working as an Administrative Assistant (whatever that means) in a developed country and making $25 per hour. Don't expect to find a similar position in a developing country at a similar salary. But, you probably don't need to. If your rent and utilities has gone from $2000 a month to $500 a month, an on-line telemarketing job at $7 per hour is as good. If you will still be paying taxes in your soon to be ex-home, that $7 is probably a lot better than $25.

You will need to do your homework here. Taxes, both in your ex-home and your new home could be the wildcard that determine whether a local job or an on-line job is the best answer for you.
